Cell Phone AIM

As you all doubtlessly know, you can use AIM from a cell phone. But what you may not know, is that in the same way you can be on AOL/AIM at the same time on the same screenname, you can also be on your cell phone and normal AIM at the same time. Which could cause many a problem like having the ability to change the password, and never being able to get logged out. So if say someone had a nextel and paid the 10 bucks a month to have unlimited wireless web, they could sign on your AIM account, be on all the time, and you would have absoultly no way of getting them off of it (short of them going through a bad cell area).

Charles Cooper, the webmaster of www.imontherun.com a Wireless AIM site, droped me a line, and cleared a few things up about Wireless AIM..

1. AIM wireless has an auto log off if your idle for a long period of time. This is to avoid additional charges on cell phone minutes to those who are charged per minute use for wireless web.

2. You wouldn't neccessarily have to be rich to utilize the aim wireless. Some services charge per message, and actually Nextel (which I have) has unlimited wireless web access for only $10.00; so regardless if you use it for 1 minute or 1000 minutes, there is no additional charge.

3. And the Hierarchy is AOL then Wireless AIM; and for AIM. AIM Client then AIM Wireless. But if you are on AIM Client and AIM Wireless and you put your away message on AIM Client, messages go to AIM Wireless and are not stored to your away message.

I would like to give Curiousyellow and Charles Cooper, for there information regarding Wireless AIM.
